I haven't been with many web hosts. I would have to say http://two-a-t.com was my favorite, though.
This is a complex question with an equally complex answer:
What are the Hosting requirements? Global mirroring and edge connectivity (?) Logical and physical security? 100% uptime SLA? Multilingual 24/7/365 live support? Offshore discretion?
The list of criteria can be very long.... it would help to narrow it down a bit before asking for opinions

Too broad of a question! Narrow it down. Do you need dedicated? And what kind of server? Etc.

i'm not looking for one... just doing some research as to what is the domainers top choice when it comes to Hosting their parking pages/businesses/etc..on the net.... shared/virtual/dedicated... doesn't really matter which.. interested in finding out what makes the company that good to keep your business'Originally Posted by GiantDomains
for example, i have been with tera-byte.com and liquidweb.com for over 3 years now for my shared hosting needs.. there is virtually no down time, the hosting is feature packed with all sorts of cool stuff and the support is top notch.. for my dedicated servers i have been with servermatrix.com for close to two years now... they are extremely affordable and i have found them to be one of the most realiable, they take care of upgrades/patches.. never any lag.. always cooperative when a problem arises.. my personal overall favorite when it comes to hosting high bandwidth apps/sites... tryed verio, serverbeach, ev1, etc... over 7 years or so.. been with dozens of hosts.. after switching to the 3 above.. finally settled with peace and mind.. how about you?
definitely http://www.httpme.com is one of the best. their support is fabulous; better than anything I've ever experienced before, support tickets have always been answered within minutes, everytime for the past 2 years! had a couple of reseller plans with them, now a dedicated and couldn't be happier... their packages are a bit pricier than others, but the extra cost has definitely been worth it!
up-time has been very good, however there have been problems, but they've been onto them immediately and always offer an explanation as to why, how and what, which is just one of many nice touches they offer.
I haven't been with many hosts, 2 hosts are as many as I have been with, www.neoservers.com was my best host. A warning to all people do not buy from www.lolhosting.com I was ripped off with no support and the server going down a lot.

I agree that these are THE most common problems of cheap Hosting: server down AND no support.Originally Posted by NavySeals91
But then when you give it some serious thought (which should have been done BEFORE buying, to be honest), how on earth is anybody able to provide even semi-decent support when he only charges a few dollars a month (or even less) for gigabytes of disk space and even more so of bandwidth??
Just do some simple calculations and you can tell your few dollars can't even cover the cost of 1 single support ticket every other month!! Not to say that they (and their upstream providers too) are overselling IRRESPONSIBLY (very often up to 10 times of their stock or even more).
Even if you are just playing around with some fun projects, it's not worth the time and stress: it's supposed to be fun, right? And if this is your business, please do more research or at least think twice and don't fall for those too-good-to-be-true hosting deals.
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, Nameslave unrepentantly embraces Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. I have been with:
bluecapacity.com
adulthost.com
I just had a shared Hosting package with both of them. Everything started out ok with then but after a month or so my site would go down on a daily basis for an hour or so at a time. The control panel they use is cpanel so you can view the memory and CPU usage for the server even though i was on shared hosting. Memory usage rarely fell below 90% so at peek times the site and cpanel where barley accessible. Like nameslave said overloaded and no support, thats why there prices are so low!
Now i have a dedicated server with jtlnet.com, no probs so far. Never had to contact support about a fault but they have replied quickly when requesting additional IP's ect.
Pricing $100 for 2.5GHz P4|512MB RAM|80GB HD|900GB Bandwidth|8 IP's so pretty good deal really.
Anyone recommend another company for getting your dedicated servers?

you should check out www.rackforce.com -- i have a dedicated server with them as well.. the servers are priced reasonably and are pretty stable... support is great!Originally Posted by mcleodc
you can even negotiate with them.. regarding the setup fee's, etc... give them a try, they are right up there with my top picks.

One thing about dedicated servers is that not every person is well versed in ... servers; and good managed servers are usually 5 - 10 times more expensive than even the best shared Hosting plans around. So for the less server-savvy with a budget (of less than $100/mo), they'll have to choose a reliable reseller or multiple domain hosting provider instead.![]()

For a customer that just wants reliable Hosting services, a shared/reseller account (reseller recommended) would normally suffice. But if you want more control (root access) over the server, definitely check out VPS solutions. www.Servint.com is one of the more popular but pricier ones out there. VPS solutions are basically right inbetween shared hosting and dedicated servers.
It all depends on what exactly the person wants and budget.
I haven't bought form him but I was thinking of doing it a lot of times, he is great with setup, support, service, and the servers are up. I have never seen his site down.

olm.com is great if you can afford it.

I've been with others but found HostMatters to be the best for me. Their support and packages are solid for shared or dedicated . . . I'm currently using both.
