Changing Host?

I am currently hosting 7 sites with one company. However I am not too happy with the level of service or customer support i am getting at the moment.
What I would like to know is, how easy/hard is it to transfer from one host to another and also does it affect PR rating when you move or is this just a myth?
Curently paying £6.99 per month for hosting with 100mb diskspace, also nned MySQL and PHP included.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Changing Host?

Changing hosts typically is not too hard at all and it should have no effect upon rankings if done properly. This is made much easier if you're switching hosts that employ the same control panel. If not, it's still a matter of moving the hard files and the MySQL files (if you have any).

Basically, you want to transfer the website with little or no downtime and this can be done easily when someone knows what they are doing. Given the basic information you have shared, it shouldn't be too much of an issue when you choose a new host. There are some hosts (if you they have the same control panel) that can and will even do the transfer for you.

Re: Changing Host?

just buy a new host, and copy all the files (web pages, scripts, database ...) to the new host, then modify the dns. it's that simple.

Re: Changing Host?

Said hosting company is located in the US, but has servers in two DCs with excellent connections and could always be worth checking out.

Goodluck with your move!

Re: Changing Host?

OK, I dont really need to post this BUT!!
After a few PM's with DMan I decided to go with his Higher Purposes company for my hosting. Everything went so smothly that I cant believe it. I have been wanting to change for months so this was a big relief to me. I also had answers with a few hours rather than a few days like from my last provider. Cant speak highly enough of his service so far. If you are thinking of changing then I cant suggest this guy highly enough.
