    Re: Choosing hosting

I haven't used any of the above, but bluewho.com and httpme.com seem to be well respected in some of the other webmaster/webhost communities.

    Re: Choosing hosting

I have used unitedhosting and am now using hostgator. Both are good although they use different platforms and hostgator uses more options. If you decide to use hostgator, can you please use my affiliate link ?

    Re: Choosing hosting

I would suggest you use 1&1.

There is a link at the top right hand side of DrDomainer.com.

They are the biggest Hosting company in the world and they offer great packages.

    Re: Choosing hosting

I would not reccomend pair or hostgator. One of the idiots who own/works for pair harrassed me for days once on WHT because i complained about their wretched customer service. Hostgator is another example of too big, too fast, bad service... their tech support is particularly bad.

I also would say steer clear of 1&1 .. another company that thinks it is too big to actually provide decent customer service and they are infamous for shutting sites down at the drop of a hat for real or supposed TOS violations. They didn't shut me down, I just didn't like their setup, the admin panel was horrid and their email conventions even worse, and I wasn't pleased with their customer service.

lucky me i spent 3 1/2 hours, yes, that is 270 MINUTES on hold with ipowerweb last week for one problem. I have to call them again about a refund they owe me from last JUNE, i just have to find the hours to devout. ipowerweb is the worst of the big guys.

i'm very pleased with jc-hosting.net right now ... excellent customer service... this is how i wish all Hosting companies would act ... but unfortunately hosting is a jungle.

    Re: Choosing hosting

Ha ha ha, I know what you mean about iPowerWeb. I used to have a couple accounts with them, as a matter of fact I still have one. I remember at minimum anytime you called in you would be holding on the phone for 30 minutes before you would actually get to speak to anybody. From my experience 1&1 is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with for Hosting. I have used many different hosts in the past from the smaller companies like dogtech.net to the biggest company, 1&1. I would recommend 1&1 and I am sure over 3 million other people would too.

Good luck with whatever you decide!
