People sometimes host their media files elsewhere mostly because of disk space and bandwidth restrictions. And it may actually be a good idea because requests for such larger files would definitely incur heavy traffic load.
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.
Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I have a site in mind that is going to have alot of non-adult media. I'm not going to be making big bucks from the whole thing. I've seen some sites using a media subdomain (i.e. media.sitename.com) Are there Hosting companies that just host the media while the rest is through another host? Are they hosting their pages on a mainstreem server and media on a home server? Any other ideas?
Thanks
Mike

Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
Bandwidth is exactly why I'm looking into this. I have a large reseller Hosting account, but I still think I would eat alot of this up with video downloads. Does anyone know of a good high bandwidth host with reasonable rates and uptime?
Thanks
Anyone know of a good unlimmited bandwidth host with ok uptime and low rates. I don't really care if it's a slow server. I will only be using it for free (non-adult) video files.
Sorry but there ain't no such thing as "unlimited bandwidth". Or put it this way: when some so-called "hosts" offer unlimited bandwidth, you don't want to go with them.Originally Posted by ImUnlisted.com
May I ask approximately how much bandwidth are we talking about here?

Not sure what your budget is but you might want to check out http://liquidweb.com and their VPS servers. I'm in the process of migrating clients over there and their support and service has been great.

Yeah unlimited bandwith is just fake.
THERE IS NEVER FULL LIMIT on the server as in bandwith.
Limit is around 2000 and most of the bandwith gets eaten up depending on the resources.
