    What is Multi-Homed Bandwidth?

I purchased a new dedicated server 10 days ago.
    I have a Hosting account that gives me 2000 GB Premium Multi-Homed Bandwidth (1000in + 1000out)
How much bandwidth do I really have? 2000GB or 1000GB. I heard that means that I have 1000GB for uploads and 1000GB for downloads. Is that true? My site uses 45GB per day in downloads. No GB are used for uploading.
If I only have 1000gb for downloading then I need a new server quickly. If thats the case does anyone know of a good fully managed cpanel dedicated server that offers 1500 gb download traffic for around 300 per month?

What's the Hosting company's name so I know not to get dedicated servers from them? Sounds like a gimmick that worked for them though. Sorry you got caught in it.

Depending on what your needs are as far as processing speed, hard drive space, and other concerns it shouldn't be too difficult to find a server within your price range. PM me if you think I can help.

Multi homed means more than one bandwidth provider.
Your host looks like it offers you 1000gig for downloads and 1000 gig for uploads, so if you upload 1100gigs you start paying more. There is no gimmick involved, obviously people not in the industry would not understand.

There are a lot of providers that will give you 2000gigs of total transfers a month unmanaged in the range of $100-$600 a month depending on the hardware you need.

For managed solutions you are looking for much more because good management is not cheap, how much management do you need? you may be better off getting a reseller account if you need too much management and not worry about the server side of things. Let me know what you consider managed and i'll give you some more accurate ranges.

The gimmick is the fact that they made it sound like such a great deal... 1000 in/1000 out when it really isn't that great a deal... not the fact that it's billed as multihomed although that made it sound even more impressive.

I often wonder about things like that... how they sound so impressive and really amount to nothing much... I mean why would it be such a big deal when really the important thing is how much are you getting for what you are paying? And where does that have anything to do with how knowledgable about the "business" someone is?

You answered your own question. People who do not understand what they are getting for their money should probably not be spending the money. They should do more research and ask questions before jumping in if they value their bottom line.

1000 gigs in or out is still a lot of bandwidth unless you are doing p2p, free Hosting or adult content. If you do the first 2 well that's your own fault for getting caught short, if you do the third you should be making money on it to cover any extra expenses. I have a few 200-500gig a month sites and they fall into the free stuff basket, I make no money on them, just host fanmade stuff and game demos so if I was in the business for the money I would dump these as they contribute nothing to my bottom line and I could easily put a few hundred "normal" sites on them and use less bandwidth.

It's like renting a 42U rack and wondering why you can't shove 42x1U Dual Xeons into it and have it running. The person must have a lot of money to be able to buy 42 dual xeon machines but obviously little understanding of the implemention side of things. That is why they need knowledge before diving in.

Well I had no choice. My site traffic went from 1 GB a day to 20-50GB per day in a short period of time. The traffic overloaded my old reseller account and crashed. I had to get my site back up as soon as possible.
By the way....what the heck is a 42U Rack?
