I think a cool idea which has probably been used tons of times is to make the site a folder and have the nav be tabs and have the name of the portfolio on the leftmost biggest tab .

I have a problem. I'm going to open a designing website to promote my freelance graphics business (yet, another graphic company out there now, lol). But, the bad thing is, I'm fresh out of ideas for a design.
For all of you that like to help a fellow domainer in need, could you please post your ideas and what you think a portfolio website should look like? I know what links to put up and all that good stuff, but designing the site is giving me trouble (go figure, im a graphic designer). But, I'm all out of ideas and I want to rip my hair out...
Can anyone help? How you would you lay out your portfolio website if you were to create one? What type of designs? Should the navigation be under a banner, located within a banner, on the right/left side and content in the middle? What does everyone think?

Do you have an example of this? It sounds interesting
Bladex I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but how are you going to open a business where you will do graphic design when you can't think of ideas like this? What will people be paying you for lol!
And I think the folder idea would look similar to the windows explorer window with the folders on the left?? That's what I see when I read the description above.
I run a graphic and web programming company as well so I know you can get in a pinch for ideas sometimes. I would recommend trying to come up with the design on your own though. You'll have a much bigger feeling of satisfaction that way![]()
Yeah, I mean a graphic designer who can't come up with a design for his own site!? Most of them have trouble sticking to one design for more than a week!

i agree with u Mr.Domains ... i cud be a graphic designer if i have that much ideas in my mind
I know I change my design quite often.Do your own design though. Otherwise if word gets out to your customers that you have some source for designs, they will just go to the source instead and save money.
Scratch that idea. Opened up another site, heh. URL is in sig.
