Favicon, is it a pain to install?

    Hi all,

I'm thinking about adding a Favicon image to my website, is it a pain to install the code?

    Thx,

There's no code at all. Simply put the favicon.ico file in the root of your website's directory and it'll be loaded automatically.

The proper way to do it would be to add a line or two in the "head" section of your HTML source code, see:

    1. I tried this website: http://www.aha-soft.com/download.htm to create my ico (it's free)
    2. I dropped my ico in my root directory
    3. I used this line in my header after my meta tags: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Somewhere between the <head> and </head> tags, insert the line <link REL=”SHORTCUT ICON” HREF=”http://www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico”>

Replace the link with your domain.

If you want to steal another websites favicon, its usually in their root folder called favicon.ico.
