    an illustrate logo

    hi folks!

i'm interested in designing a logo with those illustrated, almost clip art looking designs.

does anyone have any idea of how i can do that on my own with the computer?

do you need a special program?

    thanks!

Try xara designer, or xara3d for simpler things. They have free trials. Been using their stuff for years, love it. I use designer pro daily.

Right (not the only) way to do logos are vectors, because of scalability, reusing designs and so. You can use tablet (I use wacom intuos4, great thing) for easier work, but you can do almost the same (will take some time) with better mouse. Corel/Adobe Illustrator are probably best software solutions for this.
There are plenty of tutorials all over the internet, so take some time to read about this, and you can do it, really.

depends on quality expected by costumer.
I am not creating logos very often and I am not a pro, but when I need to design some, for example corporate identity, I take paper and make some sketches with pencil. The goal of making logos is not in advanced software techniques, or tools used. It is all about the idea. you need to find the best possible harmony between the name, company, and visualization.

If you have an idea, make few designs, compare, choose the best one, and digitalize it. After that you can play with details, colors and so.

http://inkscape.org/ is a free vector drawing program (i'm using it regularly).

It's possible -for example- to import and scan a self made illustration or sketch and convert it to a vector graphic which can then be edited.

You Will need Design theory, color psychology theory, basic knowledge of forms and proportion and a vector drawing software (the last is the least important)
