I am hoping someone may provide some insight:
I have a logo I use for business cards, letterhead etc.
I am currently building a website and am confused how I can use the logo.
Do I put it in the header? What main benefit is the header anyway? Some say it's more important than content. I think content is king but the header must be important also.
I am having someone set up a header for me. They are asking me questions about the header and I can't answer until I understand what the real benefit is and if I put my logo in the header.
Someone is also building my template. Do I use a header and a template on the landing page? I am Template ignorant also.
Are there any other graphic pieces I am missing? As you see I am a newbie with website design. I plan to provide everything plus add ons to a webmaster to build the site. I haven't selected one yet. But it has to be inexpensive as I will have everything. It just needs to be put together.
Thanks for advice regarding my questions.

I am writing the content myself. Yes I copywrite.
Yes, I'd use the logo in my header. A good header works like a good headline in a way. It grabs the surfers attention. It is the first thing they see when your page loads. If it looks like crap, the site could be assumed as crap and clicked passed before they ever reach your content. Alternately, if it looks good and they find the content useful, a good looking logo/header may serve well for branding your site. when a surfer thinks back to the content, he could theoretically recall your site based on the visual aspects of the design.
