What is a good banner size?

I see the Sedo one on this site is 728X90px, not bad but may be too big for some sites.

What is a good size for an average banner? 600X90?

Standard sizes are:

468x60 Full Banner
120x60 Button
120x600 Skyscraper
160x600 Wide Skyscraper
120x240 Vertical Banner
125x125 Square Button
234x60 Half Banner
300x250 Medium Rectangle

468x60 is most commonly used.

You should try to stick to a standard size if you plan on distributing it for other sites to use (affiliate programs, etc)

Thanx. I'm just starting to play with making banners, decided to jump right into Flash with them.

I like these the best:

468x60 Full Banner
250x250
120x600 Skyscraper
160x600 Wide Skyscraper

and
125x125

skyscrapers are nice for the right side of the page, where people are naturally clicking anyway to scroll up and down the page. best to have the ads as close to the clicker as possible.

468x60 is the deafult size for most sites.
