    2 seo questions

    1. I have 460 posts (461 with this one). If I were to put a domain name in my signature or in my title under my username, would one backlink be created, being all on the website, or 461 backlinks as they will have appeared 461 times?

Also, in this case, would how the links be written affect the effectiveness at all? I.e. "example.com" vs "www.example.com" vs "http://www.example.com".

    2. How should my homepage be structured?

While I'm asking these questions for basic knowledge of SEO, my major project right now is a real estate site on which listings would be featured.

Given the following two scenarios, which site would see a higher rank on Google?

    - a keyword-filled page describing what the site does, citing the city's name, popular neighbourhoods within the city, and keywords such as "condo", "house", "townhouse", etc.

    - an image gallery featuring the listings (which will constantly change) and a series of links on the bottom leading to individual pages for each neighbourhood with unique content (i.e. "West Hill Homes For Sale" - resolving to a page with unique content about west hill)

Obviously from the user's perspective, the first thing they want to see is the listings, but I need a good search engine ranking here.

    @grcorp ,

1: yes - you will get 461 links back to your website one from each page , however links that will come from the same ip number will have less value then different ip links that will come from various websites .
yes - the effect of how you write your links is big - you don't want just to place the URL - you want to place the keyword you are after as link text or link anchor - you can see an example in my signature - i am offering SEO services - so thats the keyword i am using as anchor text to my website - that helps google to understand my website is about SEO services and will help to push him up the rank for it .

2: yes - you would like to use your keyword on the site itself - not too much - thats called keyword stuffing and google really don't like it .
also you wrote about image listings - bare in mind that google bot cant read images - so having a page full of images will not look very attractive in the eyes of google , you will want to have high quality content - using your keywords but again not over doing it .

feel free to shot me a pm once your site is live and i will give some tips and suggestion how to improve it in the SEO field .

    1. You would get 461 links, but from same IP. So doesn;t really matter, as it is considered as one link.

    2. I would say both of them would work (depending up on your target audience), but make sure all the canonicalisation issues are addressed. Just to let you know that we are in the panda age

    Good Luck.

Thats partially true, though Google can't "read" the images, they will record the file name, size, and possibly other things regarding the image itself. Using keywords is great for renaming images as that helps google understand that images are closely related to your content. They will also feature your images for Google Image Search if they are up to par.

    1. It's more important that you get backlinks from a variety of trusted unique domains than 400 backlinks from one domain.

You will get 461 links, I have seen above most of people are saying that it is not worth it to get backlinks from same doamin or IP. But with testing I have found it give you good value if the forum is popular and high quality.
