It's quite difficult geting into dmoz directory now our days, is it very important?

Ugh, I remember the DMOZ forum you had to post/monitor to find out what happened to DMOZ site submissions -- what a frustrating experience.
They closed that forum down a few years ago.

There is some monkey biz going on at dmoz. I have some sites listed there. I also found out that some of their editors are the guys with the biggest sites in that specific category, and they make sure that you with your puny site stay out of it![]()

dmoz sucks
well, it certainly doesn't hurt to have your site listed there.
in fact, it worths the trouble!
i have 2 sites on dmoz.you're right it doesn't hurt.but imo it's not worth the wait.my traffic hasn't really changed since i listed on there.directories are a slow way to build seo and traffic i use other methods.directories are my last option.
I have a few sites listed at DMOZ, but don't bother too much. It is definitely worth to fill out the form for each of your more important sites, but if you don't get in, it is not a big trouble.
Sababa my friend
dmoz is rules by the people that want to keep you out if you are competition
some editors do their job and add most of the relevant sites that should be there on their own... then again, there is some editors that are just lazy and there for all the wrong reasons.
i was a dmoz editor for both commercial and hobby categories over the years and i can tell you that most submissions get a pass because 98% of them are spam.
of course you dont consider yourself site as spammy, but it may just be... if its clean, then sooner than later it will make it there
dont stress it too much
keep building your site![]()
try linkexchangelink.com which is one of their partners i beleive.

I have a high traffic reference site that I have been trying to get in there for 2 years and its a joke. Its a site that provides information on over 400 products, so there is absolutely no reason they should not have that in there.
Thanks

It is unique in its category and I own the top domain for it
So that cant be it, but oh well, there is obviously someone there that does not want it in,
It took me 8 months to get my icon ecommerce site listed in the DMOZ (2 years ago). Obviously referral traffic is zero (I didn't expect any), and any supposed "trust" that may or may not have been awarded to my site by Google, seems to have had zero traffic or ranking benefits.
Like PageRank, a DMOZ listing seems to be a dying relic of the past. I've had several sites listed there prior, but I won't entertain the fools errand again.
look at it this way, having it can only help...
i had one of my recent sites, maxxximize.com get listed which is great, but do i really care ? i didnt submit it.. i didnt ask or harass anybody.... it happened on its own because we offer a pretty unique and one of a kind service, the editor did his job
wanna have a leg up on your competitors and be in control?
buy up links from "authority" sites
u cant expect much from DMOZ which is free

In the good old days, I used to get a nice chunk of daily referrals from the DMOZ for an ecommerce jewelry site. It had real benefits at one time without question.
I've never been able to get an informational site listed there, though I usually monetize those with AdSense PPC. I would imagine the content to ad space ratio has to be pretty high for entry.
