Yes it will take a while. 60% of search traffic goes through Google, why optimise for anything on its own. MSN is so easy to rank with. If you get up in Google your traffic will BOOST big time.

Yes google sends me more the 2X the traffic of MSN, and with MSN I got way more links to my site. Google is slow but it does send the most traffic, yahoo and the other don't even send much of my traffic at all.

MSN only likes new pages (have no idea why) and keyword stuffing and spamming always works (good job Bill). Anyway I used to have a website that ranked 1 on MSN for 3 months and then fell down to 5 - now it's 7. Google counts big time.
Google loves anchor text in links and links per domain in place of the site wide links, which are accepted by other search engines.
In comparison, MSN loves new sites. If yours is an old one, and to add fuel to the fire you do not update the site content frequently, then there exists a fear for the site, that it may get lost somewhere down the lane. Alongwith this, continous addition of inbound links to the domain, work as adding coal to the engine.
One more point to understand is the difference in approach amongst the search engines is that Google(and Yahoo) consider off page criterion to rank the sites whereas, MSN works on on-page optimisation.
