Google PageRank and Backlink update - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

Google is updating both pagerank and backlinks on select datacenters. At this time, I am seeing the new results on 66.102.11.99.

For most of my sites, PR seems to have decreased by 1.

Well, I am pretty sure that the two sites in your sig have gone from PR0 (yesterday) to PR 4 and 3 respectively.

Hmm still showing PR 0 here so maybe its not updated my end yet....

You need to make a change to your hosts file - add the following line:

66.102.11.99 toolbarqueries.google.com

If you are using Windows NT/2k/XP, open file explorer and go to:

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc

or

C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\Etc

There should be a file named "hosts". Open it with notepad, add the line mentioned above and save it. Re-open IE and you should see updated PR. Once the PR update is propagated, change the hosts file by adding a "#" to comment out the line.

Just checked the site with one of my sites thats been up for 1 1/2 months - what do's it mean if 66.102.11.99 and 66.102.11.104 have a PR4 and the others are 0?

It likely means that an update has started and Google will eventually propagate it across all datacenters. This PR update is probably related to the SERP update we had about 2 weeks ago.

Decal, use the Future Pagerank tool linked above.

how soon will the updates/changes before they are up and running, globally?

none of my sites decreased pr, went up +1 actually... and as for a few existing sites that i had just put up a few weeks ago... all of them jumped up to 3, a few to 4 and even 5.

I haven't changed a thing in months, no changes in links or anything and I had some jump to 5 and one drop to 4. It gives me this hopeless feeling that I'll never figure this stuff out.

GTRides.com went down from PR4-PR3

My other two sites went from PR0-PR2

It is never to late to continue to build on your domains back links but for this round of updates I would say "yes".

If you have a decent amount of pages indexed by Google, you might want to try www.coop-network.info

You put up a small piece of code on your site and you start showing links. Your links are show on other sites. It is really amazing, and they have a huge forum where you can ask any question you might have.

Great way to advertise your site.
