    Google secret index

    Ok, here it goes...

I wanted to test something, so i need a domain, nothing serious, just a throw a way thing...

I basically took the domain name without much thinking, all i did was check if it is available, checked google, yahoo msn serps if i could find anything about the history of the domain, nothing site:www. mynewdomain.com showed nothing, actually not even "mynewdomain" showed anything...

so i go along making some pages put some links to it and well a week later my 20 page site has 150 pages in the google index... Apart from my 20 new pages i made, there are over 100 pages that are, well not from me, and they are even in googles cache now...

The site that i can see in the cache seems an ordinary site nothing spectacular, not even commercial, so i doubt any strange dns thing is going on (plus my site gets all the visists from Google for the (previous site theme)...

The nice thing is of course no sandbox, my new pages rank high and well from day one...

The previous site was setup like www .mynewdomain.com/index.php?=whatever
My current set up is www .mynewdomain.com/folder/whatever.html
The previous language was english, the current language is german, have i confused googlebot?

and were did those sites come from? back from the death? (or secret index?)
    and no, Archive.org shows nothing...

    Thank you

    Re: Google secret index

I am assuming there are a site previously registered at that domain still having pages in Google's cache. The domain was not active so Google didn't display the pages. Once you registered the name, and Google saw it was active, it activated the cached pages to be searchable.

Congrats not having to wait in the sandbox.

The sandbox is where you sit and play while you wait for your website traffic to mature.

The first rule of the sandbox is:

You don't talk about the sandbox.

    Second rule is:

The sandbox doesn't exist. It's all in your minds!!! I got a new site indexed on all 3 search engines in less than a week; playing fairly. I don't believe in the sandbox.

    Re: Google secret index

Maybe you have obtained results from different dataservers.
You can check that for example in this page:

    Re: Google secret index

meganerd, I too am not sure the sandbox exists. I have had several newly regged domains index in Google within a week, and go straight to PR3/PR4 at the next update, all it takes is a couple of PR5 backlinks. However, I repeated this in some SEO experts forums and they all assured me that it does exist(?), but only for domains that have never been regged. If your site has previously existed in Google, as with the above example, the sandbox doesn't seem to come into effect. At least thats my theory! ;-)

I'm not too sure about that. The Website I'm referring to is PlayMoola.com. Moola hasn't been around that long and PlayMoola.com has no history.
