I am good friends with the owner of a very popular bar/restaurant and their site needs to be redone. Not in the sense of redesign, but with SEO. I dont think they guy that did it ever heard of SEO b/c there arent even meta tags.

Bottom line is if you search for this bar in google, you cant find it. Its not even top 5 pages! I want to go in there and help him get some better search engine listings.

So i planned on first inserting meta tags obviously. But im confused with the whole flash intro they got going on.

What do you think i should do? and how should i handle that flash thing they got going on? i dont think they're going to want to remove it.

As long as meta tags are between <head> and </head>, it should be ok.

I doubt that alone will do much good.
Google only has 13 pages indexed.
Very little backlinks.

Your friend need to add some more pages.
Different types of cocktails, drinks...
Add whole lot more backlinks from high PR sites.
If possible, use keyword tags on those sites.

i agree with the links. i'll probably submit it to some directories after i get the meta tags.

ive had luck with meta tags and my sites. the keywords they want dont seem to be too out of reach either.

Kill the flash intro. Flash intro's are not usefull for a number of reasons and for seo it puts a layer a search engine spider must travel through to get to your content. The main page index.html should be the first page page users see when they arrive at the domain.

Also, add unique page <title> to every page instead of just :: Minnesotas ::

The restaurants name is not a very competitive term and shouldnt require too many links to make it show up on top.

If possible, get backlinks on content sites, blogs...
These are much better.

What are keywords your friend after?

minnesotas (plural), minnesotas long beach, minnesotas bar, minnesotas restaurant, and maybe go after "long beach bars"

You should have "skip intro" ofcourse to be get crowled, then look for some high quality links from trusted sites.
And be sure the pages links are text not only in the flash.

You should have skip intro link under the flash to let google crowl the site as well.The flash won`t be a problem in this case.

"Skip Intro" just linked to the main content page of the site. Its just a basic link for the search engine to get through the intro into the meat of the site.
