how to list domains with search engines for free?

You can go to pretty much any engine and either find a link to "add url" or "submit url" or you can just search on each one for "submit site".

However, you really won't see any good search engine rankings without links; and search engine spiders find pages by crawling links (which you need to rank well) - so, I suggest just spending your time getting links. That will make site submission uneccessary.

Oh, and make sure the pages you get links from are indexed by the search engines already.

I agree with theapprentice. Your time should be spent more on getting links. If you get enough links then you don't even need to submit your site to the search engines! They will find and index your site through links.
