How to get reliable traffic?

Can some one tell me how to get a reliable traffic. I tried the Search Engine Submission, Directory listing but nothing worked. I don't want the bogus pay per clicks (Infact tried and only ended up spending). Is there a reliable way to get more exposure to my websites?

best way to advertise is by posting your link in forums with simular topics and maybe doing banner/link exchanges with simular sites

Thanks a lot for your reply. Can you guide me to some reliabe Linkshare service. I don't want to get into some directory which sends useless hits for what I'm paying or sell my information and send tones of spam. I registered with few directory and started getting 100's of email every hour

The best way is to advertise on related sites. Avoid the linkshare programs. If you look at most of the sites that have links pages, the link to those pages are in teeny tiny words usually stuffed at the bottom of the page.

Bottom line is if you want good quality traffic, go to a good quality website and advertise on it. You get what you pay for.

What categories are you looking for? A long term text link not only will get you traffic, but it can get you backlinks and a higher Google PR, which will then get you FREE traffic

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to promote a Domain name registration and web Hosting site. Can you advise me some reliabel site where I can advertise and get quality hits. I'm cautious about the rate too, as I've already spent close to a grand on promotion but got nothing out of it.
