Let's say I own Tundra.com and ToyotaTundra.com, since Toyota Tundra gets more searches I would want ToyotaTundra.com to be the main one, but Tundra also gets a lot of searches so I want it to have content too. I guess the best case scenario would be that both ranked number 1 and 2 when searching for a Tundra. So how would I do it?
I want to develop the ToyotaTundra.com and have Tundra.com have the same content and benefit from SEO. Would I simply develop ToyotaTundra.com and do some kind of redirect with Tundra.com. I use GoDaddy so could I just develop ToyotaTundra.com and setup Tundra.com to point to the same directory as ToyotaTundra.com?
Thanks, hope its not too confusing.
You should have unique content on both sites in order to rank them separately and avoid being penalized by duplicate content filter.
It's almost impossible to give complete and proper SEO answers to your questions without knowing your exact domains and search terms you want to rank high for.
I recommend you either buy and study the excellent manual from seobook.com or hire a professional SEO specialist.
Keep in mind that SEO is a long-term process that requires some investments and no one can really guarantee the results. It is rather easy to push a site to tops of search results for one or two days for low traffic keywords using blackhat techniques, but after then the site will be banned. So be careful.
This is interesting and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention as I had never really studied this. I have a bucketload of long-time sites (most on the same virtual IP) on a specific subject where one site gets 90% of the attention and the rest combined are minimal. The only difference is I changed the individual html's titles and a few keywords.
Is this something this kind of filter would identify?
BackAlley.com Backhole.com BlackAfricans.com BrownWomen.com Breathers.com & More!
If you have to explain what your domain name means, give up, it's a crappy name!
If the other sites are shown in supplemental search results then they were penalized by duplicate content filter.
However it is more likely that these sites have been dropped out of the main index because google decided they are insignificant: they share the same template and most of the content, maybe have just few incoming links from low authority sites, rarely change or have no content updates at all, and the info about surfers' behavior that google gets from toolbar tells that users don't spend too much time there and never return.
Getting ranked high for good keywords is a mix of science and art, and is not an easy task. If you decide to learn it yourself be prepared to invest considerable amount of your time. And again, no one can guarantee the results.
The best thing is tht you should have unique content on both sites in order to rank them separately and avoid being penalized by duplicate content filter.
