I dont' think there is such thing as a "GUARANTEE" in SEO business and I feel that 10K would be a bit too much.

It really depend on the industry and competition for your top keywords.

If the keywords and theme was: "web Hosting", 10K would be too little....

It really does depend exactly what your keywords are.

Then again, there are quite a few SEO things that you could do yourself with your site, such as optimising the title tags, good content, and titles in your links.

Yea it all depend on the keywords and how popular the category is on the search engine and on the internet for example it will be expensive if you wanted a high search ranking for the keyword "web Hosting" since it will be nearly imposible to get the top results since you will need heaps and heaps of targeted backlinks and some A grade copyrighting so thats my input

Of course you can find people willing to do it for less - even much less - let's face it, $10k is a huge amount of money to some folks. But do they know what they're doing? Will they help or hurt your rankings? Can they point you to big-name client case studies to reassure you their expertise is worth paying for?

Depending on the clients budget..

With a budget of 10K, any seo campaign will include link building. On page SEO shouldn't cost more than 10K under any circumstances unless it involves ripping down a huge database driven site and re-making it.

I'm doing it for my site but it takes a lot of time. I think the real seo's can do more. If you may believe eveyone they are all seo's. I posted once a project and asked for some previous projects. I got some who send me a resume that was magnificient but they charged a lot then you had the other guys who did the job for $70 per month. They also included a page with their previous projects, but they got website ranked number 1 in keywords as real chicago lamp shades. Do you get my point. Always ask for previous projects and mail a client from him to ask if he is satisfied. With your budget I would go for the real guys.

I agree... Use caution with anyone offering you "guaranteed placement services." 9 times out of 10 they are involved with shady business, IMO.

There is no such thing as guarantee. Especially when you are targeting keywords such as web Hosting, web design, webmaster, real estate, business....etc

In fact, I can GUARANTEE you that no seo expert can get you high rankings for any commercial keyword in google IF your site is new, because of the google sandbox effect.

There also many things you need to discuss with your seo company before you even pay $100 and not $10000. Things such as:
How long have they been in business ?
Whats THIER site rank for keywords such seo, search engine, search engine optimization...etc ?
Do they use black hat methods ?
Can they show you some of thier clients sites and thier rankings ? ( Many seo companies will say they can't because its a PRIVACY issue) It would be if you discuss it in public but not with other clients in private !
Whats thier seo plan for your site such as how many links would they get for your site per week and whats the pagerank for those link pages ?

As you can see there many things to ask about and you need to do your own research on the seo company you choose and even try to get in touch with some of thier clients before you even THINK of giving away $10.000

well to be honest with you..it would be much easier for you if you spend a few hours studying about seo and then go look for a firm or a person who can do seo for your site..not only you and the person or the firm will be on the same page but also you will know what methods are being used etc because a small mistake can be time consuming and costly in the long run..also just a heads up for those of you who whine a lot about "popular keywords" etc..well just so you know..yes things can be guaranteed all you need to do is stop posting whinning messages and help the person..how can the top placements be achieved..its simple..web Hosting on overture will tell you that the so called "typos" have also results..i would say 99% of the companies will compete for "web hosting" however few smart people will target for the typos and achieve better results...yes its important to appear on top but don't forget you dont want to go for one keyword only..someone on this thread mentioned something about long keyword ending with "shades" yes..consider an ecommerce site...rather than posting all your products on one page with add to cart button on each product..do a single page for each product..and you will not only get better results but one page might do better in results and bring you traffic for other products...

best posts are the ones that encourage reading and researching..possibly the best thing internet has to offer
