This was being updated every afternoon when I was PR4. Do you think this is a PR difference side-effect, or I've been penalized for some reason? It's been a few days!
That is a natural fluctuation.
PR value is not really 3 or 4 it is only expressed so to make it more simple. Could be that you are somewhere between 3 and 4. Just get more links and don't worry about PageRank too much - it is overrated. For most webmasters number of visitors and revenue is much more important than PR value.
I have had PR for a PR5 site fall to PR0 and the site would still show up in #1 position for the main keywords. (in my case the PR fell to 0 because the server was down for some time)
and different Google servers can have different PR for your site!!!
