    Problem with DMOZ.org

I have been trying to submit the site of the company I work for to DMOZ for a few years with no luck. Anyone familiar with our industry would, without a doubt agree that our site belongs there. But, for some odd reason DMOZ will not approve us.

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Did not even know DMOZ was still active. I tried to use them many years ago and got no where with them as far as sites getting listed goes. They also rejected me as a category editor even though at the time I was more or less recognized as an expert in that particular niche. Have not heard their name in a long time.

There is probably an editor who's website is the competitor of your companies website. There is not much you can do imho. Pay for Yahoo dir instead.

Any site in the range of Alexa 760 and PR8 is important in linkbuilding, but it is true that they have lost importance.

Thank you for the fedback. I have submitted the site to Yahoo, but will that help me with my G ranking?

Anyone else have thoughts on how I can get into DMOZ? Is there a way I can appeal the editor who is blocking me or at least find out who they are?

I remember a couple years ago I believe there was a Mod on NP to was a editor. He got a couple of my sites in. I forget his name, but I am sure if you ask this question there, someone would probably remember.

DMOZ is not accepting relatively new sites and yes it is very tough to get listed. My tactic is not to waste time submitting website in DMOZ if it is younger then 1 year , but I always try my luck with old and established websites.

Anyway yahoo dir is quite good alternative for 299$ , but I would also consider listing in botw.org

I would suggest you to just submit and forget about it. Repeated submission will only push your site lower. What is your category? You can see the editors name at the bottom. Also eventhough not many of us editors are the same but if your site is recognized in that particular field it will only be a matter of time before you get recognised by DMOZ. Most editors like to add the sites by doing personal searching like me for example.
Some tips for you if you were to apply your site to my category, I will only approve sites min 1 year old, have total great/unique content, rank high at Google, have good criteria in terms of traffic is a bonus (Alexa,Compete).
Also if your site has some really good content that is not available in other sites in DMOZ you'll probably (most probably) get accepted.

I have had a website accepted into DMOZ, but it did little or nothing to help it in the search engines. It really isn't worth worrying about. Focus on your overall strategy - building good content and getting readers interested, submitting to other directories. You will see more reward this way than DMOZ will give you.

P.S. I am an editor of DMOZ but probably not in the category you require, or I would have accepted your website.

I hear you man, many people have this story with DMoz.

I would say dont even bother with it. I never seen any extra credit for being there.
