just focus on the three search engine, google, yahoo, and msn.
Submitting your sites to search engines will take much longer than for it to find you. Once you submit your url they then place you on a waiting list while their spiders goes out and find food (other urls) to feed on. The power is in backlinking and not submissions.

Just try to get a domainer to do his own backlinking. like forklifting loose coconut
I suggest linking the minisites together whether they're related or not. If they aren't, make the links less visible.
