    Sandbox on old domains?

I regged a name back in 2004 and up till about 6 weeks ago it was just parked at sedo. It is now fully developed, new content (some original) is being added everyday.

My rank in Google to start was non-existant while parked, same with MSN and Yahoo. After I started developing the site it went from 64th now down to 45th on google for the search term. While doing a search for the term on google I noticed sites in the first and second page that had nowhere near the content I had.

Is my domain considered in the sandbox even though I have owned it for almost 2 years now?

    Thanks

You're listed so not in the sandbox from what I understand. Ranking under specific terms isn't based on content alone (in fact that's a minor criteria) but a combination of factors. Have you spend time on SEO and getting inbound links from quality sites? If not, you might want to focus a bit of time on that. Also, if you have outbound links, you'll want to check the quality of them.

Haven't been working much on inbound links, only 2 that I know of, one is from the US egg and poultry association, the other is from a forum. Both of these were added by the webmasters of these sites so I haven't bought any. My domain only has the keywords in it nothing else, no hyphens and the words are in the order typed. Figured that would count a good deal towards SEO placement.

Guess I really need to work on generating some inbound links. But doesn't it count against you if you use inbound links from pages whos content isn't related to yours? Thanks for the info on the Sandbox..

You might want to do some research on how PR (page rank) affects your placement at Google.

I wasn't referring to buying links... but submitting to relevant directories. If you search around recent posts in this forum, someone posted a link to a site that keeps a pretty up-to-date list of directories and search engines.

My partner's site http://www.sitesubmitterpro.com is still pretty new, but there is some information there you might want to read.

    Good luck with it.

Thanks again. The link helped me get pointed in the right direction. Guess it's just a long hard road to get good SE placing.

It sure is! Also, if you have a blog, rss feed or newsletter offered at your site, you'll want to keep your eyes open since there are many niche directories for specifically these things. Good luck

INBOUND LINKS... you need links. Content is important, but you need links. If you need to learn more about seo, download a free ebook at www.announceitamerica.com
