SEO Advice needed for a sub 40k alexa gaming site

Hi,

I have a gaming site that ranks well in google etc for the most relevant keywords etc - think 2nd or 3rd spot on most.
Its a PR5

The userbase is approx 200k uniques a month - average age 17

I am looking for way to increase the alexa ranking - i am sure the PageRank will increase soon so I am not that bothered.

most of the traffic has been either typin or general google search ( 17% typin and 73% google )

what are the best ways to increase the traffic and get to sub 20 - 30k and also which is is more important increase traffic??

If you're after a short-term boost to the Alexa ranking then get yourself (and some of your members) to download the Alexa toolbar, I believe that's how they collect visitor stats.

the problem is getting traffic though and not getting people to ad an alexa plugin as that starts another question " how to get traffic to get people to ad to traffic "

If you're talking about increasing traffic I'd want to know if you're advertising. Simplest way to get a boost is to run some kind of promo or contest. Offer a prize then promote the contest through the hundreds of contest sites out there and you'll get a traffic boost. If your site is any good, some of them might stay.

When you say gaming - I don't know if these are paid games, but offer a loyalty boost. If you come back every day you get a free "game" or chips, or whatever you deal in.

I worked in online gambling years ago and it was all about coming up with the better offers than the competitors. When ever we had a deal up they came in droves.
