Smile Seo Advice for New site/blog

I am launching my first website. it will include an ebook, adsense/blog/forum/ tips, and lots of content. I need to start working on seo and was wondering if any one had any advice on where to start? The site isn't finished yet or launched but should I get started on anything now? and if so, whats the most important? link building?

Thanks for any info

Sure, the domain is : Healthyfoodsecrets.com in order to view the site under construction you will have to go to healthyfoodsecrets.com/joomla. I appreciate any feedback since I am new to the whole development aspect.

Thanks a million,

J

First you would need to develop site content. Next after that is analyzing keywords, determinining how you want to position yourself, researching competition, and so on, last is link building campaign, if you want organic seo.

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks.

For Joomla I would recommand JoomSEF and xamp modules. JoomSEF changes the url so they are search engine friendly and xmap makes very good sitemaps that you can submit to the main search engines.

To see what JoomSEF URLs look like, you can take a look at my website in my signature

Definitely write yourself some really good content, as we all know Content is still king, but when writing keep search engines in mind. I say keep them in mind because you do not want to market your product to the search engines, you want to market your products to clients.

Next I would say make sure that you make strong use of permalinks (for your blog) and make sure each and every page has an individual title page / meta tags (meta tags might not be that popular for ranking anymore, but its still a good thing to do)

Also make sure you give your title's (especially) in your blog relevant titles.. and make sure it pulls the user's interest. Instead of "top 10 diet tips", try something along the lines of "Do you know the Top 10 dieting tips according to specialists?"

Hope this will help you get underway..
