Staying #1 on MSN Search Engine

One of the domains I have used to get about 2 uniques per day like clockwork. I decided to develop it. Now, almost a year later, it gets about 75-100 uniques per day. I have done nothing to promote the site or advertise it. It is all type-in, links, and search engine stuff.

I regularly check the traffic stats of the sites that I have developed just to watch things. I was cruising along the other day when I noticed that the traffic to this domain went through the roof. I thought I was hacked or something. Upon further investigation, I found out that my site is now listed #1 on MSN for this keyword search. Over the last 3 days, my uniques have been around 3500 per day (one day was over 5000!).

Today I am up to 3100 and counting.

My adsense revenue went from about $1 per month to about $40/day.

I have to admit, I LIKE the traffic and I do NOT want it to stop.

I know MSN moves websites around fairly quick. I do not want to lose my #1 ranking. What can be done to help keep the #1 ranking in MSN?

nice Bob!...where are u in google?...is this traffic all from MSN?.....did u target this keyword in your SEO?

very little from google... here is a link to the searches... I just made the site and it got picked up. Then a few days ago, it ended up #1 in MSN and I got a flood of traffic. LIke I said, I know MSN moves sites around, so I do NOT want to lose the #1 rating.

MSN is a hard beast to figure out. Sometimes they will just keep your site listed in the top positions with little work, and other times you pile on the seo effort and it slowly sinks. I don't think there is a magic bullet when it comes to msn search.

Same for me but with Google! Ever since my ranking got to pole position revenue has been really good! I just wonder how long my luck will last before it gets bumped down...

I don't know how to keep your #1 ranking on msn but maybe to be #1 is really crucial for msn search.
I have had a domain at #2 position and it has been receiving very weak traffic although the keywords are competitive.

Must be a big term surpising to say the least that MSN is sending so much traffic. What type of site or demographic is it?

Just keep updating and adding fresh, new content daily. Build backlinks constantly and you should stay up there.
