    DomainHop Changes

    Hey all,

I logged into my DomainHop last week and was greeted by:

Great News! Check out the Improved Statistics page. You now can customize your stats to match your needs, even compare one time frame against another. We are also utilizing run of network pop-ups. This allows us to pay out great rates to you - $4.00 RPMs. You do have the ability to turn off this feature on selected domains; from the “Managed Domains” page double click on the domain’s “Pop-Ups” link and choose “Off”. Thank You for your business.

Today I logged in and was greeted with the following:

DomainHop has changed its payment structure to better serve our advertisers and partners. The following changes are effective as of August 26th:

    * All domains that carry an international extension other than .au and .uk names will receive a 55% revenue share on all clicks. Please click here to view extensions that qualify for our RPM payouts.
    * Domains that wish to receive a RPM payout must have the Run of Network (RON) Pop-Up feature ON. Turning this feature OFF will stop RPM payout for that domain.
    * All domains that show a two week daily average less than $2 RPM, will automatically stop receiving our guaranteed RPM payout.

I don't think it makes sense for DomainHop to use these Run Of Network popups, SP2 will eliminate the popup industry.

Also what does that last provision truly mean? Does it mean if I have less than $2 RPM from clicks the domain will automatically stop receiving the guaranteed RPM payout?

It means that if your domain generates less then 500 uniques per day within a time frame of 2 weeks when averaged out, you will stop receiving the guaranteed addon bonus of $4.00 per 1,000 uniques... They used to pay .004 cents per each unique regardless of how many uniques your domain received, whether it was ten or ten thousand per day.

I think that they have attracted enough people to park their domains with them and are now starting to get picky as well as filtering out all the junky traffic... I hate it when people first lure you in and then try and get rid of ya

    Ciao,
That seems to be what it means. I've written them for clarification, and I updated my page recommending them at

    http://www.parkquick.com/domainhop.htm

    by adding:

"DomainHop has threatened to end their $4 RPM unless your site earns $2 RPM based on clicks. We have written them to ask for clarification. If they follow through with this we will reassess whether we still recommend them. They still don't have a broad enough selection of ads to justify such a move."

Their ad base is not sufficient to justify such a move yet, and lots of their "destination sites" still have way too much blank space in them.
