    Kanoodle's new Program

This should probably go in the PPC Forum, but I'm unable to start a post there.

Kanoodle has a new PPC model that includes live newsfeeds. The theory is that people will stay on your site longer if it has actual content, rather than just generic PPC ads. I think they are onto somthing.

Kanoodle absorbed the best and brightest people from Sprinks last year when About.com made a deal with Google. Mark Josephson, in particular, is extremely sharp, and I expect Kernoodle to provide some real competition to Google's AdWords. They compete directly with Google (placing targeted text ads on sites like MSNBC.com and CBS Marketwatch) so the revenue is not split with a reseller. So far it looks promising.

    {edited to remove affiliate link - sorry about that - I won't do it again}

Not that I am a Mod here, but it is now possible to post at the PPC subforum. At least I was able to. This would be a good post over there. Perhaps a Mod can move it?

By the way, you did not mention that the Kanoodle PPC service is called DomainHop.com. I am currently evaluating DomainHop.com for PPCIncome.com

Well - it's new to me. I guess I'm just behind the times. I hadn't seen it discussed here before and I am impressed with the concept. The jury is still out on the results.

Do you have an account? How has it done compared to sedo and other places?

I'm still not able to post a new thread there. I wonder if they have it set for Platinum instead of Gold?

This is consitent with my preliminary results at DomainHop. It does not do as well as DomainSponsor on targeted traffic and/or US traffic. DH does well on random traffic, including foreign traffic, because DH offers a floor of $4 per 1000 ui for each domain. DS offers no floor and they do not count foreign traffic for the pop revenue.

If Domainhop's model works, though, these comparisons may be like comparing apples and oranges. What they are trying to do is to create actual destination sites with some content along with the PPC links. So far they haven't really made good on that - just a short newsfeed.

When a domain expires and a PPC "site" goes up in it's place traffic starts dropping off right away. I'm sure that all of us have noticed that. Exceptions, in my experience, tend to be domains that are referred to in books and other print media. People don't really like these PPC sites that have no content other than paid links. One alternative is to create "destinations" by hand and put up Adsense banners and affiliate ads. Doing that often means lower income at first, but a domain that maintains traffic much longer.

Their business model seems to include trying to create "destinations" in an automated way. If their model works and they are able to create true destination sites, then the average payoff over two years or so may be greater than other programs that are straight PPC (because traffic does not drop off as sharply). Comparing results for a month or two may not tell the whole story.

    Does this make sense?

While it may make sense it seems to me the way they do the redirect may negate the value of any traffic preserving attributes the sites may aquire.

I agree. I have written then to suggest that they use invisible frames/inline frames to keep the domain name true. I'm also changing how I send traffic to them for the same reason.

This makes sense for link traffic, which will decay, unless you provide content. For type-in traffic, there may be some benefit, but it will have to be pretty significant content.

Good point. I have a type-in "Zanex.com" that does really well with Trafficz - despite the fact that someone has to click twice in order to get to a paid link there. I guess for some type-ins it may even be better not to provide other content for people to click on.

    Hello Everyone,

Within the DomainHop "User Preferences" Section there is an option to keep your domain names true. The literature about losing the news feeds when you select this option is incorrect. Simply click on the button and your names will stay intact. Thanks!

    Thanks!

Ah, ok that is important to know. Is the offer to match what you made at other parking places still in effect? I am trying it out some, but am not moving over some of my names with more traffic till I get a better feel for the return, and as I did not see this offer anymore when I signed up.

The "Keep Domain Names Intact" option doesn't seem to work in all cases:

    http://asdf.test.f0nancial.com/ redirects to http://asdf.test.f0nancial.com/domain.cool, but http://asdf.test.f0nancial.com/asdf/test.html redirects to http://domainhop.com/domain.cool?domain=f0nancial.com.

I mentioned this to you before, but you didn't seem to acknowledge it.

I have noticed both their main website and their parking pages are very slow to load at times. Maybe it's because they are growing quickly and they will add capacity. I hope they are not losing traffic bacause of under-capacity.

I have seen negative fluctuations in my revenue, but can't tie it directly to DomainHop. (I am in the process of moving off eNom name servers to switch to another registrar, and eNom has a nasty habit of removing zones from their DNS immediately when you select other name servers, instead of waiting until the TLD zones are updated. I'll be glad when Verisign implements fast zone updates in September)
