SEDO has many issues, but counting clicks doesn't seem to be one.Originally Posted by GoodLife65

I agree with above - NEVER click on your own links, and don't encourage any one else to do so either.
You risk losing all your current and future potential earnings
I do not do that, in this instance I just wanted to see if it would pick up the click or recognize it.
still it is concidered fraud.Originally Posted by GoodLife65
They diffinately wouldn't count the one from home because eliminating that is as simple as logging the IP which you admin your names from. As far as them stealing your clicks thats just a chance you have to take. If everybody just checked to see if all of the providers were reporting correctly the nickels and dimes would add up to millions upon millions of dollars and precisely why there is a real concern about how you/we are being honest as a traffic providers.
I suggest parking it/them at different providers. This is the best method of testing who is reporting and how. Then again, practically every name is going to perform differently everywhere so the quesstion you have to ask yourself is, "Is it their reporting, their payouts, their layout, or my name which is underperforming?"

I won't click on the links, but I somtimes visit my pages directly to see the setup and what kind of keywords generated what kind of advertisments to decide if it's the layout I want. Would that be considered click fraud?
I test places... I don't trust too many people and even more so places which have zero methods of checking in on their honesty.
A good example of a peculiar instance. I took 20 names which had stable revenue over a period of time from namedrive. Placed them at sedo parking, got 0 hits and 0 revenue, and of course I had to at least type in my url to see the park page is at least ethical, decent, what have you. And none of those clicks counted. From other locations too. I then placed them back on Namedrives parking and poof.. clicks and revenue continued. I found this very strange.
I never took the time to investigate. Not enough revenue to waste my time. My only recourse is never to use sedo again, and certainly spread the word.
Relax guys... I don't think a click costing a multi-million dollar company like Sedo 5 cents is major fraud. End the hunt for Osama and hunt down this crook instead!
If people are not allowed to make tests, then companies could engage in fraud. Sedo have been honorable in my experience, but I've known of a number of companies running affiliate programs which make sure affiliates are not paid their due commissions.
fraud=Bad
I couldn't agree more with the newer domainers.
It may be because I'm ignorant and haven't had problems being banned from any PPC company I've ever had a relationship with, but ...
Why would a company, that pays me $ for traffic, that makes $$$ off that traffic, care about a few "test" clicks I may make from my home, my work, or my friends house? They are only generating a few bucks. All PPC companies track IP adresses and adjust for visitors, clicks and revenue.
They just go about it in a different way. Some companies pay better, some are definate scammers "Commission Junction", some even pay for international clicks, but I've found most companies don't care where the traffic comes from.
I have just found out about TrafficClub. They test your domains for you.
After only a few days I notice big difference in revenue from different PPC companies.

I think a click here and there to test links is ok.
That being said I wouldn't go beyond that and make sure and do it from public access point or you could get banned.
