Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I just received an offer on a domain that I have parked with sedo. However they are taking 50% from the sale for themselves. Thats a little selfish, wouldn't you say? Well I replied to the seller, but I read later, that they could edit what you write, or not send the reply at all. Is there any way to get past this insanity?
They do that so that ppl dont insult each other and so that ppl do not bypass sedo to avoid the fee... It is 10% ($50 minimum) commission fee btw.Originally Posted by Alexander
Listing a domain for sale on Sedo is absolutely FREE. We operate on a commission basis, so you are only charged if we successfully find a buyer for your domain. Then, Sedo’s commission fee is 10% (min. $50/€50/£50 for .com/.net/.org, for other minimums please see price list), and this fee includes Sedo’s secure escrow service (including sending the payment to you via Paypal or Wire Transfer).
Please keep the commission fee in mind when pricing your domains! Professional marketing of a domain name is not cheap, but we think you’ll find that the results more than justify the up-front investment. By attracting end-user domain buyers, Sedo is able to get a much higher price for your domain than you would be able to to elsewhere.
I got this news in a message from sedo on Sept 4. It appears that if you "park" your name there and an offer is made, you only lose 10%. Anyone else get this email?

sedo SPEAKS!
SEDO SPECIAL: NO MIN. COMMISSION ON PARKED DOMAINS!
Normally, when you sell a low-value domain name, the escrow fees can take a pretty large chunk out of your profits. Although Sedo's minimum commission fee of $50 (which includes our escrow/ transfer service) is already the lowest in the industry, these fees erase half your profit if the domain you sold is only worth $100!
Now, there's a solution to this problem: Park the domain with Sedo! Effective immediately, there is no minimum commission fee for domains parked with Sedo. That means you pay just a flat 10% commission fee regardless of the value of the domain name. So, if that $100 domain name is parked with Sedo, you'll pay a measly $10 commission! Don't worry, our commission fees are still all-inclusive: you get processing of the buyer's payment, a secure escrow account, and Sedo's personal assistance with the technical transfer of the domain name, all included free with your Sedo commission.
How can we afford to so drastically undercut the fees charged by our competitors? We think that once you try Sedo's Domain Parking program, you'll get hooked on the great feeling of getting a nice check each month just for sending us your domain traffic. We may lose some money in the short-term, but in the long run we'll gain a happy customer. ...Plus, we think you'll sell a lot more domain names with us!
If you'd like to drastically reduce what you're paying in commission fees, click here to park your domain names now. It's free, and if you don't like being paid for your domain traffic, you can stop at any time
Oh, well I guess I'll take the deal. I respect sedo, and someone is buying my site, so I'm happy.
EDIT: I thought they took 50%, but I realized the $50 fee. I am selling the domain for only $100.
Yet sedo rips off customers that purchase feature listings [see my other thread here for details] ... so much for "happy" customers.sedo's email: We may lose some money in the short-term, but in the long run we'll gain a happy customer.
So on one hand Sedo is willing to forego commission revenue, likely amounting to many thousands, and yet chooses to not refund $117 USD I paid for featured listings that were not shown as advertised; misleading customers is bad, costly business.

Domagon - Website Management and Domain Name Sales
Ron, perhaps you could provide more information on what is "misleading" - the following reply was given in a previous thread http://www.dnforum.com/f77/sedo-featured-listing-rip-off-more-than-one-sedo-homepage-thread-66332.html#post427627Originally Posted by valuenames
Now that statement is clearly shown under "Additional Details" relating to Featured Listings on Sedo's site, so I think members will want to know in what way the offer is misleading, or if maybe it was a case that you did not read or understand the conditions before posting the name?Originally Posted by SedoCoUk
The only way to beat them is to sign up to their providers your self.
sedo is SLOW and has some problems, I had to wait LONG to receive money for a pending sale, but at last, got it. In all, it's a resource we all need, monopoly I would say![]()
NICE Domains for sale - Huge Collection
PM me for details
whois, how do i find out sedo's providers..
can you pm or email me plz
thanks
laskos
(They do that so that ppl dont insult each other and so that ppl do not bypass sedo to avoid the fee... It is 10% ($50 minimum) commission fee btw.)
last comment with a response to my counteroffer was 'must be good crack over there"
sedo approved the comment and forwarded to me so i guess insults arent there main motive for reviewing but rather people trying to circumvent commision fees
I since changed my portfolio to parking only so i dont have to deal with comments like these, if people dont like prices then move on
not reffering to you Alexander but someone who offered me 62 dollars on a 10k domain
The sale didn't go through because the buyer had "life changing problems". sedo emailed me and asked if I wanted to take legal action. 3 days later, I get another offer but for less $.
