Question What's a good CTR % to shoot for?

I use Adsense and have been having a terrible CTR recently. I'm in the process of doublechecking my codes to make sure my id numbers are correct, but I doubt that's it.

Anyway, what is considered a good average CTR % to shoot for with adsense?

Obviously the higher the better, but I just want to get a feel the average numbers.

Re: What's a good CTR % to shoot for?

    It completely depends....completely

There are sooooo many variables, forums and entertainment sites will usually have a low CTR (0.25% or less), while many high content niche sites can get 5%-10% or more....

Re: What's a good CTR % to shoot for?

It totally varies on the site. I've got a free forum site where the CTR is 0.0% or 0.1% because I get 20,000 views and less than 100 clicks.

Then I have typo sites where it's 30% because I only get 3 visitors a day, and one of them clicks on an ad.

I think it just depends on the site. Forums, it will be really low because 'regulars' will simply ignore the ads. If it's a site with content and the only links elsewhere are Google ads, then the CTR % should be much higher.

    Ok, well that helps. Thanks!

I guess the best way is static sponsors where you charge per month or whatever. :-D

Re: What's a good CTR % to shoot for?

I get 51% average on hummer 3 dot com, up to 79% CTR (yes really)..but its exactly related links and mostly type-in traffic...thats the key... targetted traffic. I would feel a good solid acceptable "normal" number would be like 10-15%
I'm buying credit, banking, loan, insurance related generics in .com, .net, .org with high search volumes/traffic. Will consider typos too! - PLEASE PM with name, info, & asking price!

I get about the same $$ if I were to run fastclick banners , about $1.25 per 1,000 pageviews , on sites built for pure adsense rev it would be much higher ratio.

Aim high and if you land anywhere close, be happy!

10% is my average amongst various kinds of sites.

Re: What's a good CTR % to shoot for?

    100%

Honestly ... on my arcade websites they tend to get 1%-3%, however like GT Web said, the content rich (unique is great!) websites I use to own got up to 20% CTR. Also ... I use to own an Free Image Hosting site that got around 3%.

Hope those numbers help a little bit.
