$50 from trafficz.com PPC - from around 3000 domains, including quite a lot of domains with reasonable levels of "expired" traffic.

The current average though is more like $30 a day on 4000 domains - enough to pay about 40% of the renewal costs.

Better to learn how much some domainers earn on a regular monthly basis, month aftre month consistenty, rather than wonder the most someone made in 1 day, which may have been little more than luck.

Can you perhaps share with us how you managed to get the name, what category it is in, type of ads that work so well, is it on adsense? - its traffic, or better yet reveal the name?

duncan, there is a lot of money to be made in the ppc niche.. the big, veteran players make $X,XXX ~ XX,XXX per day.

Mike is right. My maths may be wrong but if UltSearch sold to Marchex for $164m & that was 8.5x annual revenues, daily revenue was about $53k a day or $19m pa!! There are some other players out there with the same size portfolios as well. Now I feel depressed!

ultsearch's portfolio can earn way more then it did.. it will be very interesting to see what marchex decides to do next... and ult' had thousands of generic domains that each can go easily for mid-high $xx,xxx and hundreds of domains worth $xxx,xxx

yes his portfolio all together made lots of money but the name value is something everybody overlooked when this sale originally surfaced.... marchex can sit on their ass and not do a damn thing but ppc with the domains as the domain name values keep going up and slowly but surely sell off their names for millions here and there and they will make back every penny within a few years.

Mike, it all comes down to what you expect the industry to do over the next few years. How is it going to evolve? Assuming it carries on as is, then yes, Marchex don't have to do anything and will watch the value of their virtual real-estate grow. Let's hope that is the case & we can all continue to do well. But what if there is a correction, or some new technology that somehow affects PPC, or legislative changes that affect TMs and typos? Those are the risk factors. At the moment, I don't think they are very high & I'm happy to continue to be in the game (as are the likes of Marchex).
