Can you help?
We are in the pub at lunchtime here in Melbourne Australia today watching the NFL new york jets playing Atlanta live on Fox Monday night foootball.
Anyway an arguments breaks out as to what side is playing at home.
I am adamant that the game is in Atlanta, however my mates disagree because NYJ is named first on the score board on the TV screen, so they reckon that NYJ must be the home side
So my question is : How do the NFL decide which side is first named?
i.e Why is it NYJ V ATL when the home side is ATL?
What weird and wonderful rule decides which team is first named on NFL scoreboards?

you are correct ... the game was in Atlanta
The home team is always listed second on the scoreboard ... and in my theory it is because when a game is spoken ... it is usually said in this way: NYJ "at" ATL or GB "at" TEN, etc... therefore the home team is listed second.
Thank you kindly JE
