That little mess got some of us into a 4 month stoush - that was only resolved with some very creative negotiations, involving a lot of bidders from all around the world + sedo + the Registry...

Now, here is Sedo - not only ending this .de auction for thousands of names at the same time - but, also, running multiple other auctions simultaneously...!!!!

It'd be laughable if the consequences for many people were not so potentially serious.

There's a kind of morbid fascination at that kind of stupidity...

    .
That was a huge mess. This is even messier, I think.

We're not just talking 100 domains. We're talking thousands all ending at precisely the exact same time.

Then Sedo want's to come on here all innocent saying they were the victim of a DDoS attack.

Their system (and wisdom) failed again.

I wonder how many legal filings and injunctions will be handed down this time?

Now that the sedo auction is over can the domains still be bid on through DENIC? I just went to DENIC.de and saw nothing about this. Is it too late now to bid on these?

If it were down to ICANN they could, but it ain't down to ICANN because it is a ccTLD.

You would have to check the terms of their license with German Government.

I just checked a few. DD24 got tv.de – congrats sedo, that's close on 300k Euros in your back pocket.

realtime.at got a few of the one letter names I checked like i.de. You'd expect realtime.at to do well, as that's that they do – catch dropping names.

I'm guessing this site isn't realtime? I would think by now that all the 1 and 2 character domains are totally gone, no?

All of 'em have been registered except a few (e.de, f.de, g.de, x.de, y.de, z.de and a few LLs) but no, they're not up for grabs

They've haven't been made available due to legal issues:

They were catching for themselves I think, can't blame them. Bet all the .de registrars will be down the pub getting pissed by now. It certainly has been a profitable day for them, what with certain registrars ending up with about a million Euros worth of names, give or take a few hundred k.

I think DD24 were catching it for themselves? 25K euro reg fee but now sedo broker can buy for $xxx, xxx on behalf of winning bidder and just get commission?
