I saw a recent sale listed at sedo for only $10??
bstreet.com 10 $US

so sedo.com only took $1 escrow fee on this one?

If thats the case - in time there low end parking will increase. Which in the long term could be a good thing for them.

I always thought min was $60.

Minimum fee is $50 standardly. If you are US/UK citizen and you park your domain at sedo, fee is plainly 10%.

I was thinking of the min bid for a domain, rather that the fee.

They recently expanded this. If you park your name with them and it has at least 1 view it's 10% fee no matter where in the world you are located. http://www.sedo.com/services/parking.php3?language=e

Only on main TLDs though.

I congratulate Sedo on the introduction of a more aggressive pricing policy. I think that this is at least in part due to the increase in the number of buyers using Who-is to identify existing registrants and cutting out the middle man. I have certainly noticed a marked increase in direct approaches.

I do not see this as the advent of $10 domain. Unfortunately, it has probably served to increase the number of nuissance bidders. Personally, I would let a domain expire rather than go through the hastle of transferring for a nett revenue of $9.

It does, however, increase the likelihood of domains in the $50 to $300 dollar range being transacted. Few domainers are happy to settle for around 50% of the sell price.

Longer-term, I think Sedo and Afternic will be forced to review the 10% transaction fee for domains of higher value. Say in the $1,000 plus category.

It would be nice to see these rates extended to all ccTLDs, but unfortunately the bureacracy surrounding many national registries precludes this. It is about time that Nominet and others switched to online transfers, without fee. ICANN should be doing more to bring this about!
