I wonder if Lightspeed Aviation bought it. They make really good noise canceling headsets. It could have also been Lightspeed Systems or Lightspeed Technologies.
I see the aviation company having a lot larger budget though.

100% bs!
If Lightspeed (or LightSpeed) is your brand name, and you own a large company, I can easily see spending $150k on a domain. Its highly doubtful the company could win a copyright infringement case for the domain, so arguably, they made a bold and respectable move of buying the domain.

I wonder if it has TM problems if a domainer bought it.
Reserve was met on 5000$ mark![]()
I agree, we've seen many companies trying to bully their way into getting a high priced domain though frivolous WIPO cases which usually rule in favor of the complainant.
A company willing to go about the ethical way of obtaining a generic domain (like this one) that is not infringing on their TM would have ny respect.
Depends on what they do with it. Put up a site about scientific news including the speed of light (and equations involving that (like converting matter into energy)) or astronomical phenomenon, I think they're safe.
If they use it to put up PPC ads based on products from a company called "Lightspeed" (like the headphones mentioned earlier) then they are on very thin ice.
As for the appraisals, most of them are bull and if the domain is a perfect fit for your company then you should be willing to spend extra money on the domain. Just imagine what domains like Microsoft.com and Google.com would be worth if their respective companies wern't behind them.

you've been a member here since 2002 and are using automatic appraisals?
surely you know these are worthless?
as far as this 'sale'
looks like this business has been going undisturbed for a number of years. either it's a non-sale or they just sold the website and business too, not sure if that's possible on tdnam as i never use that site

and price for yahoo.com is 1004$ , maybe I should make them offer![]()
I offer $50![]()
Sorry to intrude on your conversation, but it is general consensus that those free appraisal sites are just one opinion (mostly for curiosity purposes) and why would anybody actually pay for a appraisal anyway?
This is the way I see it: Why would you PAY somebody to tell you your domain is worth LESS? There is no telling what an end user were pay. A few months ago on another DN forum I asked for an appraisal on a domain and they all ridiculed the name saying it was "worth less than reg fee." Last week, I got a $250 offer for the domain...
Isn't lightspeed a porn producer?
