$1B Spend Authorized by Major Corp. @ Traffic Auction

I saw this via Frank Schilling's Blog so I am posting both links.

http://fragerfactor.blogspot.com/200...r-generic.html

http://frankschilling.typepad.com/my...on_offere.html

If true great news for .mobi holders also.

actually the original blog just says that they are also "keen on the .mobi extension". it does not reference .mobi to traffic, this is added in by Frank, which is obviously true.

I think we are in the midst of a watershed moment in domaining history, with all that's been going on lately.

It's too bad that Moniker didn't include more .mobi domains. Sounds like the buyers will be disappointed.

Re: $1B Spend Authorized by Major Corp. @ Traffic Auction

from my experience there was pretty much zero interest in the variety of .mobi names at the 2 live auctions i attended.

there is my 2 cents..

People that sell their generic whoppers now are idiots unless the price is REALLY right...in 2-3 years they will be worth double

Cash is king, you never know what can happen tomorrow.

High oil prices, overvalued stock markets, overpriced real estate, rising interest rates, there is little point in investing in such a malign environment.

It won't be the value of traffic or generics going down, I will bet the farm on it dude.... but, CASH is king if you want to invest it..kinda like a big rain cycle.

Re: $1B Spend Authorized by Major Corp. @ Traffic Auction

Ive never invested in .mobi 's nor have I ever used one...are many (any?) major companies using .mobi successfully right now?

I know when I was still doing programming there was software to detect what type of a browser a user had and then display the type of website they needed. Meaning I could differentiate between a cell phone and a normal web session even if the user just typed in one of my .com names.

So I guess Ive never seen a real need to brand 2 separate domains for the same company... a .com and a .mobi

But time will tell...maybe Im wrong. Is anyone here actually using a .mobi?

Re: $1B Spend Authorized by Major Corp. @ Traffic Auction

Being as companies like oqo.com are one step away (imho) from making a pc cell phone... I still think theres no need for .mobi

Second reason being MS is now developing a cell phone browser that lets you use normal .coms instead of mobis...

http://labs.live.com/deepfish/

so why are .mobis good marketing, Focus?

.mobi isnt needed... we've established that months ago, where you been?

but .TV is even less "needed" and seems to be doing at least mediocre on television these days..

at very least: .mobi is a vanity TLD in a huge upcoming niche, the mobile web... the question is can some company (mtld) create a TLD from nothing and have it actually adapted and used by people other than just domainers. only time will tell..
