Arrow Advertising.com (AOL) CPC-based video Ads

Strong business direction for generic domain owners that should offer good ROI

AOL and their Advertising.com division are now promoting anything and everything through their typical driveby bilboard style advertising perspective, now focusing more and more on video's

Once you identify the major industry players that are paying AOL's Advertising.com to promote their product service with the new CPC-based video ads, check your list of generic domains.

Your generics that directly corrolate to those paying for the AOL cpc-based video ads are your target audience. Or the competition to those companies that decided to spend the exuberant fees for wide band advertising, you offer your key word generic domain website and its direct navigation UV's to promote their video.

here is the article about the new CPC-based video Ads from AOL's advertising.com:

Interesting read. This may also prove to be a good revenue alternative for sites in the humor/leisure category like youtube, joke websites, etc.. that don't convert well with ordinary textual and banner advertisements. It may also cause a lot of the larger companies, like car manufacturers who spend heavily on tv advertising to place even more ad dollars into online media. Good for the web as a whole.

agreed, very interesting read.

If one reads deaper into this article and other articles regarding the cpc-based video market, one will find that the TLD .tv is mentioned, .tv domains will continue to grow in value, at least those that are key industry generics, ie,
travel.tv / fishing.tv / saling.tv / skiing.tv,,,,,,

It's just the variable registration prices of thousands of dollars each that makes it a difficult extension to invest in.

yes, .tv registration fee is around $25-35,

I believe "nameyourself" was making the suggestion of total fees for capturing all TLD's for all your names could total into the thousands of dollars. Which I am not so inclined to recommend.

We did register .tv domains that compliment some of our .com's and have application with video.

yeah enom holds the mighty "premiums" at ransom, but non premiums, and often generics and such you can (or could have gotten) for 24.99. i paid that for eFamily.tv, and sold it for 2300.00 last week, so i am cool with that rio paid 24.99 for anybody.tv and sold it for over 5 grand too -

Fussball.tv just sold (not mine) for 28K and was a 110.00 per year renewal and billiontv.com sold for a grand.

i dont think the 24.99 renewals on most .tv's are really effecting anything. now with video monitization starting to happen and work itself out- well, i am just glad i invested in the niche i did

It was actually about two things.. first the premium names that cost inflated prices for yearly registration, but also for the "non-premiums" is it possible for them to do variable pricing on those as well? It relates to that whole topic of whether or not they would be engaging in price discrimination if they charged higher renewal fees for names after extensive websites have been built on them. Simply put, are the non-premiums guaranteed to never become premium, or variable in the future? After all, Verisign does own the .tv extension.

i believe that non-premiums, as long as they do NOT drop- will remain non-premium for the life of the hold. now, those tthat drop, we have seen a couple, few, made premium- but most have just gotten grabbed up- but i do believe they stated, if it does not drop, it will not rise

agreed, definitely an issue for potential concern regarding who determines what is a premium .tv and what the annual registration fee for those premiums should be. Does anyone know the answer to this question of whether or not the fees will be dynamic and change all the time.

The .tv generics we registered for the nominal fee through godaddy are not recognized at this time as premium .tv domains. Would assume verisign would like to charge premium fees for all .tv domains, and expect them to try to do so as more and more .tv domains that they did not designate as "premium" become more and more active with more and more value.

need to dig into this subject to verify what if any rules apply or if verisign is in total control.

T & C revised
These terms supercede any previous agreement you may have regarding your .TV domain registration. In addition to the terms set forth above, the following terms shall apply to registrants of .TV domain names. Premium .TV domains, shall be determined and designated Premium names by the Registry, and such Premium names are non-transferable to another registrar. Registration prices for Premium .TV domain names may vary. In addition, renewal prices for Premium .TV names may be different from the original registration price. Your premium name renewal fee will be no greater than your registration fee as long as all of the following occur 1) you renew the name, 2) VeriSign maintains its current .tv agreement with Tuvalu and 3) eNom maintains its current .tv agreement with VeriSign. eNom commits to not increase renewal fees above the registration fee for as long as the fees we pay do not increase. For .tv premium names that are not renewed (for names that are expired), eNom reserves the right to raise or lower the price of the registration fee before making it available for re-registration by someone else. The registration period for a .TV domain name is for one-year. Your registration of a domain name in the .TV top-level domain is subject to policies established or revised from time to time by the registry for such .TV domain name (".TV TLD Registry"), in its capacity as the registry for a .TV domain. The .TV's registry's current policies (".TV Registry Policies") are available for you to review at the registry web site. You agree to be bound by and comply with the applicable Registry Policies, including amendments and modifications thereto, with respect to your .TV domain Name registration. Such policies shall not alter the terms and conditions of this Agreement. To the extent there is a conflict between the Registry policies and the terms of this Agreement, the terms of this Service Agreement shall prevail. You agree that the .TV Registry has the right to enforce the .TV Registry Policies.

Looks like everyone is pretty much locked in with the fee they first agreed with when registering, unless registrant/owner forgets to re-register on time or if/when the agreement between Tuvalu and registrar may change.

I.E., Domains not designated premium will be re-registered at the $25/$35 annual fee and those domains designated premium will be re-registered at the premium price previously established by the registrar.
