This is not to excuse Patrick's breach of privacy, but ...

shouldn't a large portion of the shame (in this whole sordid affair) be heaped upon that unnamed domain honcho who set it off by regging the "Sucks" domain in Patrick's name and pointing it to gay porn? Talk about immature & vindictive actions.

(If somebody did that to me, I'd be sorely tempted to do whatever it took to find them & confront them.)

That is another issue. I am not saying it's good to register {Someone}Sucks.com, but the main issue here is the privacy breach. It could happen to any of us. It is a big issue.

    Taken from http://www.chefpatrick.com/chefpatri...he-real-truth/

I do not believe they had it forwarded to the porn purposely like I did at the time of my initial findings. I believe they parked the page and the word “sucks” got picked up and so it got forwarded to what it did.

I do get your point...does everyone have access and why?

I am sure there are some channels to have to go through. So, who should have access.

Seriously, stuff like this typically takes a court order to get the data.

Typically in all the business I was in if you even looked for certain accounts you would be terminated. A long time ago I did tech support for AOL and however tempting it may have been to look for celebrities home phone numbers, I knew I would be terminated if I even looked. In the current wireless industry most accounts are locked down to a certain level. If you work for ESPN.com and walk into a cell store to get a new phone you can't because the account is locked down except for certain people, the lowly people at the store don't have access to Chris Berman's phone number.

So point being oversee/moniker whatever should have come out and said that sales people or normal everyday tech support will not even have the option for this data anymore. It's something that should take a high level password to access the info.....

    QUOTE FROM CHEF PATRICK BLOG
    "Why did I look-up who owns ChefPatrickSucks.com?
A: Because when I typed in the domain name, with my wife present, to our surprise it was pointed to GAY PORN. My wife was emotionally upset by this and saw it as an attack towards me and it hurt to see her like that. Only after seeing what the domain name was pointing to and seeing how it hurt her thinking I was being attacked, did I look-up to see who owned it". END QUOTE

Some are saying it was always just pointed to a parking page...and maybe their was some adult ads on there due to the work "sucks". But seems the Chef is perhaps putting a bit of a spin on things here....not to mention the 'coincidence' of his wife being present the very first time he clicked on the website. Hmmmm....smells a bit fishy at this end, not to mention a guy playing the sympathy card.

No doubt Chef knows the difference between a PARKED PAGE and a domain intentionally POINTED to a Gay Porn site (which he insinuates.) So which was it? Big difference IMO if the "owner" of the name was trying to damage him.

Once again...Chef had his chance to come clean with his blog post and blew it. He should have clearly acknowledged that he was wrong, that he breached the trust of the company he worked for, breached the trust of the community and appologized to all. That would have been his best way to be a stand up guy, but seems he got some BAD advice and just dug himself in deeper.

This is not the issue, this is merely an event that helped expose the issue.

His 'side' is pointless. If you are going to be any kind of 'public face' be prepared for people to not like you, and say mean things about you. Its just reality. If you can't deal with it, don't be a public persona.

An intersting comment from long time Myrtle Beach domainer Marcia Lynn Walker who posted she will be starting a site about Chef Patrick. This was posted on Ricks Blog.
    her post is below:

Although I loathe spending another dime that'll see no monetary return regarding self-aggrandizing cook patrick, I just regged crookpatrick.com and will, as my 1st amendment rights allow, blog about my experience dealing with him, as well as allow the input of the various industry people who've contacted me telling me he's ripped them off, too.

I'll also include links to sites and blogs that detail his unethical activities since he entered this industry in 2008.

So consider this a heads up patsy boy - and no, there's no whois privacy involved.

Bingo! But we're dealing with an industry that is unregulated. Everyone in this business including the big name companies are "start-ups" to capitalize on the money in this industry. Ethics be damned.

The following questions were just sent to Oversee PR, we'll see whta the responses are.

I have some questions from current dnforum members and current Moniker customers.

Can you please provide us with a statement on the breach of privacy that occurred when Patrick Ruddell looked up chefpatricksucks.com?

Was this the only domain Patrick looked up?

Was Patrick terminated for his actions?

Years ago I worked @ AOL in Broadband Support. One of technicians on my team used the AOL internal program (Sherlock) to look up a celebrities address. When it was found out they were fired on the spot.

This type of thing is a serious security issue, that in real business would not be tolerated. Then again in real business Halvarez would also have been held accountable for the fraud he perpetrated.

It is not like Oversee.net has a lot of credibility to fall back on at this point.

That's the poorest excuse I've ever seen. If his wife was that upset over seeing that then she has some other issues going on. When you're a public figure or with someone who is, expect this to happen and if you can't deal with it then either grow a spine and grow up or leave the relationship.

I work for a wireless phone company and it's the same thing. Having access to things like that but not abusing it takes ethics and clearly the rep who abused their positon to get alleged private information just to cause trouble is someone who has a serious moral issue.
