Don't feel bad -- I used to have a 'real job' in Carlsbad Ca, occasionally buying domains on my break at work, and I kept noticing a red ferarri with a tag something about "WS".
After working there several years, the day I moved on I learned that the .WS headquarters was LESS THAN 1/2 BLOCK AWAY the whole time, in an office/industrial complex I simply had never gone into.
Luckily I never bought any .ws domains, but it still was an odd geographical coincidence.
there are a lot of us in that boat. What really kills me is that I knew about domains early on - bought 50+ one night in 1997 and started from there - but.... didn't buy the right ones. Then even in 2003 when I first reg'd here I was kicking myself about 1997 instead of buying great drops...Every time I read articles like this I feel like giving myself a good swift kick in the A$$... I could have been one of those guys!!! *sigh*
