If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts he shall end in certainties. Sir Francis Bacon
I guess because they were adult related. Dumb move if you ask me.
Maybe he knows something about the future of the market that we don't ?![]()
Rick has enough money to list those namse on ebay and pay $200 each. The daily traffic pays for it in, well, probably less than an hour.

His auctions were ended by Ebay because they were not in the adult domains section. I knew that they would do that but just wanted to see how long they would let the auctions last. I am sure that they refunded his listing fees also but heck if he owns those domains he could afford it!
I think he was testing the waters. Those domains should be pulling in a min. of five high figures monthly easily so I didn't understand why he would rent them weekly. I can't remember which name but one was up to $350 - so that is $350 x7 (rental days). Also if one continues to rent or is constantly "forwarding" the domain you may risk losing traffic.
I am still jealous though!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
Also, there could be a fee avoidance issue if a seller purposely structures a transaction in such a way as to minimize eBay's cut.
If someone is 'renting' or 'leasing' a domain for 1 day or 1 week, but really deriving longer term benefit, such as by renewals which go on and on for months or more, or as a prelude to a big dollar sale.. eBay could have a problem with that.
I mean, if you can slice it into as small a piece of pie as you want, why not rent a domain by the HOUR? The lessee's cost and eBay fee would both be at a minimum. Then, you just renew the arrangement with the lessee --without the auction house involved! It may become a fee avoidance scheme when a pricing plan exists to squeeze the auction house out of their fee.
I have no reason to say that is the case with this specific situation, I am just speculating as to a possibility that exists in similar scenarios. Of course, I know Rick Schwartz --the Domain King, as it were-- and my personal opinion is that he would never do such a thing!

Rick's strong suit is adult; Rick's weakness is adult.
With notable exceptions such as candy.com and tradeshows.com, his portfolio doesn't have much depth. At a bloated 4,000 names, he should cut out alot of the deadwood and diversify.
However, his top 30 names includes probably the best adult domain collection in the world.

Why, so you can listen to him constantly berate people as "morons?" Or, so you can wallow with the sycophants there who lick his boots and brown-nose incessantly? Or, perhaps you are a masochist and you wish to be the brunt of one of his occasional outbursts?
