Once again, CIRA is lowering .CA registration fee; this time to CAN$8.50 (effective July 2005). Yes, you hear it correct, 8.50 Canadian dollars! Now, this is getting more attractive.

I've always thought .ca had great potential. At that price level I would be investing heavily in good words/terms if I met the Nexus requirements (which unfortunately I don't).

One idea to meet the nexus requirements for .ca is to set up a Canadian holding company and hold the .ca domains in it. I believe that one can incorporate in the Yukon Territory without having any directors resident there.Originally Posted by Duke

CIRA has one of the most ridiculous transfer systems known to man kind, but .ca names are due for a large jump in value and lowering the registration fee helps a lot
Dot ca is worthless.

The press release refers to the fees that Cira will charge registrars (the companies where we can register names). That doesn't mean that we are going to see extremely cheap prices. Right now Cira charges 10$ CND
, and the lowest fee for registration is DOmainsAtCost.ca 12.95$CND.
(DomainsAtCsot.ca belongs to Pool.com)
So, I think we might see only one dollar discount soon. Still , not cheap

Great news!
I love .ca domains - still some good ones
available, you see .ca domains everywhere in
Canadian advertising now, and Canada has
a high per capita internet population.
I agree they are due for more recognition,
most of the best names are in only a few hands.
When you search the best terms you keep seeing
the same owners over and over again.
The only downside is our small population
relative to say the US, UK, or Germany.
