Very well done. 2 % is bonus deal.

I think I have read about Frank Schilling feeling regret not to go over $250,000 to buy candy.com a few years back. He mentioned he didn't have enough courage to go over his highest bid. Now it proved he missed big domain.

it's a nice payday coming up for rick schwartz at something like 50x ROI

he paid just a little over $100,000 for this domain... sahar brokered the deal and helped him acquire it

another multi-million dollar domain gets us a lot more exposure for a few days

One day they may write about this. How a small New England Candy company disrupted one of the largest and oldest industries in the world. Congratulations to Melville Candy Company of Massachusetts.

So, how do we get end users to understand the value of a domain, and be willing to pay that millions ?

That is THE Million Dollar Question... It's all about HELPING the end user seeing the LASTING VALUE and RESIDUAL INCOME that COULD be produced by owning the domain. Once you help the end user VISUALISE the impact on sales and credibility that the domain you are offering them COULD help create, the only game left to play is the negociations. Always do your homework on the firm... if they're financially very comfortable and stable, you can always aim high and work yourself down if they cannot 'afford' a higher asking price.

For starters, you have to have a great domain. Then, be willing to turn down offers of six figures for it. That's the power of "no". Finally, when you receive that special offer be prepared to display your best negotiating methods.

what i love about this deal is firstly Rick reveals the details, like the ireport sale
great credit to him for transparency and to get name in high reported sales.
unlike people like frank schilling and sahar who keep it all hush hush

this is good for the industry

secondly Rick has sold this to a small firm, comparatively speaking, instead of to to giants like cadburys

this is so good as it can show the way to medium size companies to go for it and compete and get that great domain

so Rick, gets the highest price poss, gets a profit share agreemenet and escapes any nda.
this guy is a genius of a salesman. its why i have always said although 200k was a nuts amount to pay for flowers.mobi
never doubt this guy. in years to come he WILL sell that domain for 3, 4 , more, times that.

i have the balls to state that. he really will
he won't lose on it, thats for sure

yes he is a great salesman who has been going at it for like 30 years now, both online and offline.

as for flowers.mobi = it wont sell for hundreds of thousands, will be lucky to get even on this sale

it was a gamble, one that will not pay off... but that's what this domaining stuff is all about

    win some, lose some

i agree tbh mike. i dont think the domain is anywhere near a xxx,xxx domain
and if you or i or anyone else had paid that we'd be holding something we'd prob only ever get a xx,xxx range figure back

but Rick is the master salesman. also it got to that figure because the 1800 flowers guy or someone was bidding against him. they wanted it bad. 190k bad but not 200k

i guess he will get his large payday from them or someone. in time

Great PR for Rick, Domaining and the company involved. There is a serious amount of free advertising and link bait to be had by the company purchasing the name - maybe even enough to pay for a large % of the name.
At first glance the price is too high - but taking this into account - maybe it wasn't too extortionate.

I had candy24.com for a couple of years, offered it in a forum but no one claimed it at that time and it dropped. I wish I had it now, but Clark Siegelin registered (smart move)
