Great buy...

Computers.com TV.com Download.com Downloads.com Radio.com Com.com MP3.com Help.com Shopper.com News.com Search.com Upload.com Chat.com

Possibly best collection of domains owned by any one company?

Plus the value of the websites - especially to this buyer. News.com would be great for their news service if it stopped being mainly tech news. TV.com obviously would be useful too.

The domain values:

Computers.com - 3 million
TV.com - 8 million
Download.com - 10 million
Downloads.com - 11 million
News.com - 12 million
Radio.com - 3 million
MP3.com - 3 million
Help.com - 3 million
Shopper.com - 1 million
Com.com - 2 million
Search.com - 9 million
Upload.com - 1.5 million
Chat.com - 10 million

Hmm...

So that makes 76.5 million in domain values alone

A different (but the same) point of view?

Some familiar comments on SeekingAlpha (http://seekingalpha.com/article/7753...-business-make):

"By virtue of being one of the oldest Web companies out there, CNET (CNET) has a lot of really neat-sounding URLs on its balance sheet.
The problem, however, is that a good URL does not a business make.
While CNET has launched TV.com, it is not a must-see-destination. It also owns Radio.com, but that too does not cause waves."

Sashas, in my opinion some of those values are not quiet accurate

The one that pops up right away is Radio.com being worth only 3M... that simply can't be...

domain54326, I guess you don't need to go that far... it looked like a steal the next day

Well Vorty, I put the prices low because thats what I expect them to be in an auction like Traffic

If Pizza.com goes for 2.6 million, and Computer.com for 2.2 million, surely Radio.com cannot be way more than 3 million?

CBS already has vast Internet interests even on the local level (ie, dfwvehicles.com)

CBS is also a major player in billboard advertising (in texas at least)

I feel a sense of frustration when the PRIME domains are so "wasted"...
To each their own though...

Radio.com could be such a fun - interactive site... with the right owner...

looks like CBS has bought prime real estate that they have to develop out now. if they could maximize each of these domains into full ecommerce websites, then 1.8billion may be a good deal.

MySpace.com was bought for 580 million, about a third of this deal. On a value per dollar basis I'd rather have CNET.

Would you say buying MySpace is like buying the most popular bar in town, as opposed to CNET which is like buying the some choice vacant blocks in the CBD (currently used for car parks, hotdog stands, etc)?
