Wow definitely not a good news for bloggers, even if its mostly that they're targeting the advertisers, still would make bloggers a bit paranoid with this news.

Wow, that's quite a blow. It seems lame that they would go after disclosure on blog posts. Aren't there bigger issues to deal with? Such as ICANN going rogue.

Or consider the other side of the equation: If this kind of "blogging" has gotten so out of hand that the FTC has to get involved...

Granted, however, there is no way that they are going to be able to regulate it, just like SPAM. I would just rather see them put the resources to use on something that could be changed for the better.

Good for the general public, bad for ethically challenged bloggers.

Though I completely agree that the money could be spent better elsewhere.

Interesting. Ya gotta wonder if google knew this was coming when they set the privacy policy requirement up this year.

Advertising and truthful don't co-exist. I'm not being synical here, I'm just expressing my opinion. Many brands claim to be the best and offer more... Many claim full return policy yet fail to mention the aggravating procedure and cost of shipping. The list is very long.

You're talking about advertising. This is about people pretending to have an unbiased opinion that is actually paid advertising. Huge difference.

In my opinion its long overdue.
This will not effect the majority of bloggers, only the small margin that are big enough and influential enough to be showered with products or cash.

I don't know how bad it gets in other countries, but here in Australia, cash for coverage is rife within the media. Advertisements rapt up to look like news stories, but categorized under the guise of entertainment so they can get away with it.

I hope Australia's governing bodies do something similar.

    Cheers
    James
