Domaining goes Local

I've heard that you can buy domain names, for instance medforddoctor.com Medford is a city in Oregon and there are about 5 other Medford cities (other states) in the usa. In the near future since doctor.com is already taken then medford doctor will be put into web browsers and get lots of clicks. Has anyone heard of this? Can you please explain way to earn money to this newbie. I need your help.
Thank You,
Chuck Brook

Re: Domaining goes Local

It's an interesting theory for debate, Tuna.

Most likely is that to find Medford doctors someone will just search for the term on one of the engines, and hit one of the many directory sites (for example listing doctors - or whatever - in a wide local area), then they'll choose Medford from the dropdown and find what they want. There are many of these for UK use, guess it's the same in the US?

However there's a potential theory that with the billions of sites online and growing, and with a number of these just paid click sites, that user dislike of using the search engines may grow and lead people to increase their direct generic term searches.

If this happens, then these generic local terms could be well worthwhile.

Of course, if we all register everything and then just park, that'll quickly go downhill.

There's always the option to register and develop.. Can go into that a bit more if you're interested.
