    Post "dot-Net'' is about to become dot-not.

    Microsoft reels in its .Net tag
    Microsoft acknowledged Thursday that it would begin dropping the .Net term from products because it was just too confusing.

    I hope they are going to start reeling in the term "windows" as well, as lots of people seem to think that Microsoft are the only computer company with windows, despite it's use in software that predates Microsoft.

    Actually Microsoft are better with doors - they keep closing them

    "But the .Net tag left many people scratching their heads. While Microsoft continued to add the .Net suffix to products from developer tools to servers, it has struggled to explain what the term means."

    Had they used .Info instead, they wouldn't be in this fix today

    From the article;
    "``We haven't done the best job being clear on branding,'' a Microsoft spokesman said. ``We started slapping .Net on too many products.''"

    Yah! That's an understatement.
    Poor .NET's! Perhaps one day still.
    Good Luck.

    They should have hired you as .NET marketing consultant.
    I am sure it would work.

    Thanks, ReignDomain ... LOL!!
    I certainly wouldn't be the person to do it ... but you ARE right, it has to do with "marketing". To me, .NET seems like a 'natural ... even outside of the isp/Hosting/network scope. Why the registrars don't do a better job of marketing I can't figure. Though, now that the .ORG is in new hands, I've heard some good things for the ".NET"! Stay tuned.
    And, time will tell. Good Luck.
