Over 3,000 U.S. regs today - that is an unusually large number for one day (and it is triple the number of .info regs for the day). I would guess a single buyer made some kind of large wholesale buy today, like the day that Seattle buyer went in and grabbed hundreds of 3-letter .US.

P.S. Bid you mailbox was full, I couldn't answer your message.

Kinda off the subject a tad, but to reg a .US you have to have a biz in the US or live there right?

I kinda like the .US but don't think I could own one.

I expect to sell / develop maybe 10% - 20% of my names. The best regs were the earliest. Now it is getting harder / more expensive to find good single or combo names in this TLD.

I know that I am biased on the .us campaign because I own so many .us domains, but it seems to me that it will be a hot market.

Not only due to kids.us, but also due to a trend that I've noticed in the appraisal section here at DNforum.com. Even today, some people have listed some new and creative .com domains that they just registered. These .com domains got a consistent value of $0.00 or registration fee.

I've seen this type of pattern over and over again. I guess that appraisals can be taken with a grain of salt, but sometimes the appraisers are very experienced.

So if the appraisers are actually experienced and if the appraisers know what they are talking about - they're just confirming that there are basically no more good .com domains left to buy. All of the good .com domains are taken and the registrants continue the renewals on these good .com domains either for their own use or to sell at some ridiculously high amount of money.

So basically - I see much support for the idea that there is room in the market for the growth and development of the .us domain market. A good .us domain will serve as a good alternative to buying a crappy, long, or misspelled .com domain and will serve as an alternative to paying an outrageously high fee for one of the few good .coms that are still being sold out there.

Incidently, I know that this thread will get crapped on by DotComCowboy (if he sees it). I wish him the best of luck, but buying 1700 domains is a real gamble anyway. I own quite a few, but not 1700. If he has trouble selling his domains after .us takes off, he should be able to write this off on his taxes.

Does any one have any idea of where I can see the list of dotcomcowboy's domains. I've been to his main website and it does not have a listing of his domains.

I'd like to see his domains. Maybe he has all of the good .coms.
Alternatively, it could be that he has about 1500 worthless .com domains and that's why he's so scared about the growth and development of .us.

Anyway, I'd like to see his list of domains. Let me know if you know where I can view that list.

BTW...the reason Rick dosent need search engines..and I have been over this before can be found in this statement..

"A guy had just bought it for $5,000 so I offered him $10,000, $15,000, I told him `Here's $25,000, you can buy a new TransAm.' Finally, we settled on $42,000," Schwartz said. "Today, it gets 25,000 unique visitors every day by way of type-in traffic. I can send those people to any place on this planet I can send them to."

The real "light bulb" test for Rick came when he landed a few high powered porn names that actually recevied thosands of NATURAL type-ins a day.. then he could TRANSFER that traffic to any of his other domains (the ones that REALLY get no type-ins them selves)...

He could take an avergae ho hum domain like most of us own that gets 10 hits a day and automatically give it 3,00 visitors a day !...(simply by transfering traffic from his top generic porn names..

He once said something to the effect .. "not everyone needs porn..but everyone needs tootpaste..!" simply meaning he could send hios porn traffic to his mainstream product lines...and still make sales..

He is head strong and about owning nothing but .com and refuses(at least last I heard) about considering any other extension.. so you see he he does have flaws !

All of you who could NOT sccceed with Porn.com. Ass.com, men.com please raise your hand

Not to take anything away from Rick...but that certainly makes the path to success a lot easier ! .. And He DID fork over the money... so he did take the chance...

I am not "scared" of .US

Actually, I believe that it poses no threat at all to my business.

It may even help me. It could siphon off cash from other speculators who will then have less money to compete in the .COM space..

Anyone having success in their buying and selling of names, in any TLD, would not need to beat down another TLD.

Apparently DotComCowboy isn't in this category.

Yipes! That's quite a long list of .US domains, a substantial investment. I can see why this is a sore subject.

I have no interest in beating anyone down. But, would I be a friend, or even a "success" oriented type of guy --if I only told you what you wanted to hear?

I hope the .US pipe dream come through for you, but I just don't see it. Good luck!

Interestingly, the .COM pipe dream never came through for most people If that's any indication of things to come, we will continue to see a lot of blood shed.

Think quality, not quantity. Think busines model and development, not just selling names. Think about how you can differentiate yourself competitively, not just stay in your .COM comfort zone.

Some people wait for the future. Others create it.
