Emulators of all sorts are quite popular in the gaming community. They're tough to monetize, especially given the fact that the "roms" which people use to play games on them are typically illegally copied.
It's got too much of a plural confusion for my liking (promoting it might inadvertently draw traffic to emulators instead of emulator), but I think that $11k is a reasonable price for it.
Not to sound like an "armchair millionaire", of course, as I haven't got that kind of money to throw around. But this is not a $100,000 or even a $50,000 name in my opinion.

Agreed. Nice enough name but not one with a built in business model/revenue option. But this is not a $100,000 or even a $50,000 name in my opinion.

LOL @ automated appraisal tools.
11K is already nice for this domain considering it was probably an audience of domainers.

Emulators used to be somewhat exclusive and privately held techy items.
Now, it seems like everyone has an emulator in their packages of software.
Adobe has an emulator for phones in their packages.
Emulators have lost their luster and most now are called something else or go by other terms.
Good point, you seldom use the word emulator.
Nowadays you would say vm, appliance, virtual machine or virtualbox.

That sounds like a lot of money for that domain name. Emulator is not really a popular keyword that people would search for in Google. It could be a good brand name though, and the fact that its .com is pretty rare too.
Yeah, geeks with no business sense would have bid it up for sure.
There used to be a commercial lighting product ....probably 10-15 years ago.....it was light beam that simulated laser beams for Clubs, Rock and Roll shows, laser tag arenas etc and it was called the Emulator.
I don't see much value in this name, unless someone was going to create a product or service and brand it.
Emulator is a bit of an awkward word, and I think the seller did quite well to sell for $11K![]()
Market always shows the real situation, no forecasts are interesting here.
Of course, the market shows the "real situation", but it only
shows one outcome and variables are such that there could
be MANY outcomes re: an eventual selling price.
Anyway, I thought this was an opinion-based site. Your
comment doesn't express any opinion, does it?...
assuming the sale was real and the sale goes through - OK I am a bit cynical.
And I doublt any retail customers were at a GoDaddy auction, so 11K reseller is not bad.
That's a fairly decent reseller price. An end-user would probably pay more, but how much money is there really in emulation anymore? How much money was ever in emulation?
